Patty Alexander of Flint Hill, riding her homebred gelding Startez Too, set a new record in the 50 mile Old Dominion endurance ride held Saturday as she finished the Leesburg to Clarke County course in four hours and 51 minutes.
More than 40 contestants left the- starting line at Morven Park but only 30, led by Alexander and Startez Too, made it to the finish on the banks of the Sheandoah River.
Alexander, a seasoned competitior in endurance rides, raised Startez from a colt, breaking and training him herself. “Saturday was his first ride, competitive or endurance,” she reported.
