Resident or non-resident sportsmen having trophies taken this past season may enter them in the contest. There is no entry fee. No advance entry forms are required, just bring the trophy to the Harrisonburg Auto Auction Building Friday or before noon on Saturday. Entries must be submitted no later than noon, October 25, to be eligible. All entries must be accompanied by the State Big Game Tag. (Proof of kill).
There will be four classes for deer entries, including one of the bow hunters: Class One (9-points or better), Class Two (7 and 8-points), Class Three (6-points or less), and Class Four (Archery).
The trophy may be mounted head or merely a rack of antlers. The antlers must be attached to the skull. The taxidermist’s skill or mounting is not taken into consideration as only the antlers are scored. The judging and scoring is under the direction of Max Carpenter, District Game Biologist for the Virginia Game Commission.
