Rappahannock’s dog impoundment facilities do not come close to meeting the state’s new guidelines. In 1959, the county supervisors provided approximately $50 worth of materials for construction of a wire pen at the county dog warden's property. Shelter consists of a dog house and boxes provided by the warden. Animals unclaimed after five days are shot and the bodies disposed of on the dog warden’s property.
