Located in the beautiful rolling hills near Woodville at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, the main house was designed by Floyd Johnson, AIA, of Charlottesville and built in 1969 by Arthur Griffith of Culpeper. The house is of contemporary design planned especially for easy maintenance and upkeep and is furnished with 18th and 19th century English and American antiques intermingled with antique wood carvings from Spain, Portugal and Italy. Paintings by Marie Pietri (Mrs. Kilpatrick) are displayed in the entrance and west galleries while a major piece of her sculpture is the focal point of the book-lined living room. Her studio, added to the house in 1976, retains the low stone wall that originally enclosed a small kitchen garden.
Nationally syndicated columnist Jack Kilpatrick’s office was designed and built by Washington’s Peter Kramer in 1973 as an addition to the original Corbin cottage of 1924. The enclosed swimming pool, handsomely landscaped grounds and tennis area will be included in the tour.
