C.A.R.E. is an acronym for Combirred Accident Reduction Effort.
The C.A.R.E. program in Virginia means increasing the number. of troopers available to patrol major highways through their volunteering to work overtime and days off. The increased visibility of the troopers is designed to encourage compliance with the State’s motor vehicle laws.
During the recent Labor Day weekend. State Troopers reported a total of 6,069 summonses and arrests. These included 4,683 for speeding, 212 for reckless driving, 71 drunk driving and 1,103 for other hazardous violations. In addition, troopers provided assistance to more than 3,050 distressed or stranded motorists.
