When John O'Grady left for Washington. D.C. to do research for his honors thesis, he wasn't pressed for time. A lucky thing since the trip took over a month as O’Grady pedaled his way through tornadoes in Kansas and Missouri. 120 degree temperatures in the Utah and Nevada deserts and a snow storm in the Rockies to reach Washington.
