It may be that the town got the best of the deal, although no one will really know until the town gets finished paying for the necessary movement of the firehouse siren. But that is beside the point. Public business should be conducted in the public eye. The secrecy surrounding the church-firehouse swap is an unfortunate mistake that should not be allowed to repeat itself.
