Rappahannock News Staff Writer Instead of bats, Washington will soon have a siren in the belfry of its new town hall, a move that will probably save the community several thousand dollars.
At last Wednesday's meeting, mayor Newbill Miller asked the council to consider housing the Washington Volunteer Fire Department’s siren in the belfry of the former church on Gay Street, the building which officially became the new town hall on October 6.
The siren now sits on the roof of the old town hall which was traded two months ago to Washington attorneys Peter and Sharon Luke for the church. Since the Lukes plan to remodel the structure into law offices, the siren must be moved and according to fire department
