"I have been experimenting with cut flowers and have a section of the large pompons about ready to burst forth for cutting,” Payne said. "This may be an avenue which I’d like to follow at a later time.”
In October there is a lull in the business, or rather a breathing spell, when horticulturalists head enmasse for Florida. This includes a* little vacation from the sevenday-a-week job and an opportunity to attend flower showings there, he said.
In addition, he works at a part time night job in Warrenton. He knows all work would make him a dull boy, so he has some romantic interests also, but none too serious yet. "Eventually I'd like to get into retailing. I think, and have some help with this location so I could open up another place,” he said. But right now, Payne says he has his hands full.
