It was enough to launch a new career. "There were no antique dealers in California except a few who dabbled in western memorabilia so Dorothy and I decided to come east where it all began.”
With his wife and son Michael, White moved to Maryland's Eastern Shore and began studying antiques, haunting museums, emptying library shelves of books on antiquities and visiting local shops.
His wife Dorothy served as research assistant, filtering information back to Emmett.
