It’s Clean Up Time

Fall is a good time to clean up around the garden. Clean and repair all equipment before storing.

Sort through the garden chemicals. Destroy those that have lost their effectiveness. Seal and label any chemicals that can be used again.

It's clean up time for the vegetables and flowers, too. Many plants have completed their life cycle and the debris can be put in a compost pile. . If you don’t have a compost pile, now is a good time to start one. The compost pile can utilize vegetable parings, leaves and weeds.

Keep the pile moist and turn it occasionally. Sprinkle a small amount of nitrogen fertilizer over the pile.

Vegetables such as pumpkin, squash and musk melon should not be thrown

the compost pile unles> the , seeds are-removed. Seeds attract rodents to the area.

Milk, A Cheap Source of Vitamins

Milk sells for pennies a serving and is full of calcium, phosphorus, riboflavin and other B vitamins, vitamin A and D.
