riboflavin. They need two eight-ounce glasses of milk or the equivalent each day.

Dairy products supplying amounts of calcium equal to one cup to whole milk include one cup of yogurt or one cup buttermilk, 2 cups of cottage cheese contains the same amount of calcium but about twice the calories found in milk.

Other foods contain calcium, but dairy products are the best sources. For example, 2 cups of greens contain the same amount of calcium as one cup of milk but there is a substance in greens called oxalic acid which binds calcium in the body, preventing it from being absorbed.

You would have to eat three cups of nuts or pinto beans, 12 slices of bread or more than two heads of lettuce to get the calcium found, in eight ounces of milk.’ . -

Topstitching

This year there are several fashionable ways to use topstitching.

Outline the edges of collars, cuffs, yokes, lapels and hems with topstitching. Use small stitches and match sewing thread to the garment. The effect is subtle because the topstitching isn’t obvious. Multiple rows of topstitching are effective on collars, belts and pockets.

Use five to seven rows to give a trapunto effect. Again, use matching sewing thread and small stitches. The quilted look is popular, too, with rows of topstitching forming a pattern of parallel lines or diamonds throughout the garment. The newest trend is toward using buttonhole twist for quilted effects.

For a truly decorative look, topstitch the seams of a lining before sewing it into a jacket or coat. Use thread to match the lining fabric for an expensive appearance.
