They will assist eligible clients with a full range of civil cases, including consumer matters (sales, contracts, warranties, garnishments, bankruptcies), employment (discrimination, wage claims, unemployment compensation), administrative appeals (social security, SSI, food stamjjji, welfare, medicaid), housing matters (landlord-tenant, subsidized housing, discrimination, community development), health law issues, educational matters and domestic concerns (divorce, custody, adoption).
In addition to assisting low income clients, RLS staff will be implementing community information and education projects to promote preventive law. Rappahannock Legal Services will not handle criminal cases.
