An important major local happening in the world of equestrian events was the approval by the Fauquier Board of Supervisors of the new facility at Old Tavern which encompasses 240 acres of rolling meadow at the intersection of Rts. 17 and 245, and which will be used 'initially for the Gold Cup and other steeplechase and turf events beginning in the spring of 1984 or 1985.
