Assistance Fund was established in 1978 by the Virginia General Assembly to provide financial aid to rescue squads and other emergency medical services agencies that operate on a non-profit basis solely for the benefit of the general public. The grants awarded two weeks ago by Kenley ranged in amount from $200 to $36,323 (which involved 11 different agencies) and were generally for such items as ambulances and communications equipment.
