The county’s largest employer, the Aileen Sewing Plant in Flint Hill, closed its cutting room early in the year but re-opened the section in mid-September to absorb the load resulting from the shutdown of the company's branch in Southwest Virginia.
Aileen spokesman Wayne Walker reported in November that the Flint Hill operation expected to hire more cutting room and sewing ropm workers. But at the same time, he confirmed that cash flow problems arising from decreased orders have resulted in cuts of employee benefits.
