Development
A depressed economy and the county’s zoning ordinances continued to hold the gates against major residential development in 1982. The year saw preliminary approval given to a 120-bed adult group home planned for the old ski area site in Harris Hollow and a Catholic Retreat center near Huntly on part of Sommarbeth Farm.
A proposal for a large-lot luxury development on the balance of Sommarbeth Farm was also unveiled but the year ended without filing of formal application for the 24-lot subdivision.
