(Continued from Page I) Westminster, Pennsylvania, and transferred to Stanford University where he earned a bachelor's and master's degree, assisting with the college newspaper and serving as assistant editor of its yearbook. Holschuh next worked as a radio newswriter for a San Francisco station before joining the Navy. After his retirement in 1972. he resumed his involvement with journalism through volunteer effort s here in Rappahannock.
For the last five years, he's put out the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection's quarterly newsletter. “It's a heck of a lot of work." noted RLEP president Phil Irwin. "Howdy digs out environmentally related stories himself and takes the material we (other RLEP members) give him, combines the information, rewrites i\ edits it, does all the lav-out. takes it to the printers, picks it up. handles the addressing and the delivery. RLEP is deeply indebted to him for all the effort he's given the job."
Irwin also praised Holschuh's talents as a photographic chronicler, noting that he's compiled a definitive set of county
