Dr. and Mrs. William E. Hopkins of Norfolk and “Walnut Knoll," Woodville, were in College Park, Maryland, on Wednesday, December 22. for the graduation of their son William E., Jr., from the University of Maryland with a PhD degree in electrical engineering.
Dr. Hopkins, Jr., attended the College of William and Mary, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and received his BS in mathematics. He subsequently earned two MS degrees at the University of Illinois, one in mathematics and one in electrical engineering. He is presently teaching in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Princeton University.
His wife, Alice Deanin, hast, attended Bennington College, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and the University of Illinois. She is a teaching assistant at the University of Maryland, where she will receive her PhD in mathematics in 1983.
