Wakefield School students won awards in the tilth annual Christmas writing contest sponsored by Samuel's Library of Front Royal. Competing against over 300 elementary age students in sis area schools. Wakefield students won twenty of the thirty awards, taking 1st. 2nd. and 3rd place prizes in Grades 3. 5. b. and 7. In addition. Wakefield students won 1st and 3rd place awards in Grade 1. and honorable mentions in Grades 2. 3, 4. S. and 7.
Local winners include Bobby Ohlinger of Antissville. 1st place winner in Grade 3: Matthew Lynn of Washington. 1st place winner in Grade 5; Jennifer Torneden of Flint FI ill. honorable mention in Grade 3; and Anaalethia Hoare of Flint Hill, honorable mention in Grade 5.
Students of Wakefield School’s Preparatory Division participated in the American Legion Oratorical Contest held last Saturday in Front Royal, winning 1st. 2nd. and 3rd place awards in the annual contest for area high school students.
