Celebrating Christmas
The youth of the Washington Baptist Church and Trinity Episcopal Church invite the people of Rappahannock to join them for an evening of caroling this Sunday, December IS.
The carolers will gather at the Washington Baptist Church at 5:30 p.m. to warm up voices and then will sing their way through the town of Washington. The evening will end at Trinity parish hall where light refreshments will be served.
Each family joining in the Christmas song fest is asked to bring a dessert to contribute; the churches will provide drinks.
The traditional lighting of the town Christmas tree is set for 7 p.m. on Wednesday, December 21, in front of the court house.
Following there will be a special holiday program at the Gay Street Theater sponsored by the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community. Entertainment will include Christmas music on the dulcimer, gospel singers, a puppet theater, dance by the Last Minute Wood Company and a reading bv Waldron O’Connor. Judy Bomberger, music teacher at the county’s elementary school and high school, will lead the audience in caroling.
After the program, cookies, hot mulled wine and cider will be served.
