The time capsule project was organized as part of observations of the county’s sesquicentennial in 1983. The vault encased in a stone pyramid on the grounds of the library already contains letters, reports, essays, photographs and histories submitted by civic groups, churches, school children and adults. Primarily, the material deals with what life is like today in Rappahannock County.
Anyone who wants to participate in sending a message to posterity can get further information from Mary Botts Quaintance, Grace Sims, Lucia Kilby or William Carrigan. Material may be delivered to the Rappahannock News office through December 23.
