ROES principal Maggie Piper worked with read ing lab director Mike Connifev and various teachers “with marvelous ideas” to put together a special program for “Virginia Reading Month.”
Reading month opened officially at high noon on December 1 in Richmond when public school students staged a balloon launch near the State Department of Education. Each balloon carried a message encouraging children to read. People who find these balloons are asked to return them to the schools from which they came.
