Parent-teacher conferences held Thursday, October 11 at the high school and elementary school were “probably the most successful conferences we’ve ever had,” said Margarita Piper, principal of the elementary school.
The conferences are held twice a year to provide an opportunity for parents and teachers to become acquainted. Parents can also pick up their child’s six week report card.
Parents could go in to the schools from 1:90 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. “We have times for the conferences in the afternoon and evenings so that all parents can come,” said Piper.
Robert Chappell, principal of the high school, estimated that 160 parents had come in for conferences. “We were pleased with the parents who did come,” Chappell said. Chappell said that another indication of parental interest in the high school has come in the form of the RCHS Boosters Club which meets between basketball games. “It is a real pleasure to have people who are interested in making a good school even better,” he said.
During the conferences, parents and teachers have a chance to know one another in an effort to know the chQd better. “The teacher hopes to learn as much as he or she tells during a conference,” said Piper. ‘There is a two-way communication about things
