Greenoch also boasts a variety of heirlooms and mementos, antiques and paintings gathered by the Herndons during almost 50 years of marriage. The tone of Greenoch is informal, friendly and relaxed. This, according to the Herndons, is all part of the friendly ambience of Rappahannock County.
Clifton, just outside Flint Hill on Rt. 729, is owned by Dr. and Mrs. Robert J. Rodgers, daughter Karan and her children. It is one of the oldest houses in the area, and was begun about 1775 as one of seven “sister houses” built between then and 1780.
