present ordinance haaioopholes, then we should plug the holes with the help of our commonwealth attorney and continue with what has been a proven, effective ordinance which has allowed our county to remain as we like it.
I question the fairness of our planning commission in even attempting to think about sending a proposed zoning ordinance to the Board of Supervisors for adoption when it was not even written by one county. It is not over zoning ordinance and I believe that is what the majority of people are upset about.
How could the Planning Commission take three years to put this ordinance together and yet at the first public hearing they could not give definite answers and were not aware of the discrepancies brought to their attention by concerned citizens?
It almost makes one think that they only concentrated on areas they felt were pertinent to our county and just threw in all the rest. That’s really all we need — areas pertinent to our county and I think these are already covered in our present ordinance.
Why can’t we revise what we already have? Who says we need a brand new ordinance? We don’t need 210 pages of rales, regulations and restrictions. Our boards and commission have a hard enough time as it is, just administering and enforcing our present ordinance. They certainly don’t need more to confuse them.
