(Continued from Page 1 ) getting people to name the town in their wills were some of the suggestions. “I'll take that one, and talk to Doug (Baumgardner) to see if we can legally establish some kind of fund,” said Kramer. “Perhaps we can get it bankrolled by donations from some of the businesses in town just to say we have something to get started with, and solicit bequests in wills.”
Miller presented a survey of the town to the council as part of the effort to get a new charter for Washington. The survey was approved, and the charter and survey will now go to the Board of Supervisors for approval.
The council elected Brad Fisher as vice-mayor, and Dorothy Clater as clerk. The town council’s next meeting will be on November 14.

Piper estimated that over 503 conferences were held at the elementary school with parents seeing more than one teacher for the same child. “A group of parents also provided a covered dish supper for the teachers at the school, which was very thoughtful,” Piper said.
As much communication as possible between the teachers and parents was the goal at the high school Chappell said. “Conferences help our new teachers to get to know the community and students better by having as many parents as did come out,” Chappell said.
The next parent-teacher conferences will be held on January 28.
