Mock Election
In a mock election held at Wakefield School in the week following the first presidential debate, President Reagan and other GOP candidates won landslide victories over their Democratic opponents.
Wakefield students, faculty, and administration voted by units in a winner-take-all process based upon the national electoral college system. The results were: Reagan 588 electoral votes; Mondale 0 electoral votes.
Reagan swept all grades, faculty, and administration by large margins. In the 7th grade, for example, Mondale received only 1 vote out of 31 cast In the popular vote, Reagan took 84 percent of the vote,
