The dance at the Rappahannock County Elementary School last Friday evening was a real success. The auditorium was packed with kids and parents, and the music could hardly bl heard for the roar of the screams and chatters. It was the most active, hilarious scene one could imagine! Richard and Pat Hebner returned recently from an unforgettable one week vacation bnbeardthe Qfeekstitf “Amerikanis”. They cruised the Gulf of Mexico, and down to the tropical Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico. -Yes, folks - Mexico - where the temperatures ranged in the mid 80’s by day and the nights were cooled by frequent showers. They dined onboard ship, and the food was elegantly sumptuous. Yummo!! They spent some time in the cities of Cozumel and Plava del Carmen, enjoyed a beautiful, authentic Mexican show, and experienced a culture shock in the poverty and living conditions of the people. They visited the ruins of s Mayan Indian City in a limestone plateau with many huge pita that were sacred wells to the people. They saw ancient Pyramids, and the Mayan murals painted on walla. They were terrified of the maniac drivers, and the way their bus did 80 MPH over speed bumps and cm small, rural roads where the pavement dropped off into a swamp. The Helmer’s could hardly believe what they were experiencing!! .They went out on a boat in a lagoon in the moat gorgeous, crystal, dear water
