All across America there is cause for acknowledging and celebrating divine goodness on this Thanksgiving Day 1984. We are indeed a nation and a people truly blessed.
We continue to have our cherished freedom as a nation. We still enjoy our personal religious freedom which our Pilgrim forefathers fled Europe to obtain. And we remain, although somewhat apprehensively, at peace.
We have just exercised our rights as American citizens to secretly elect our national leader without fear and coercion. A majority of us, in 49 of the 50 states, indicated by our ballots that we believe, as a people, we are better off today than we were four years ago. We seem to share and to have endorsed the President’s optimism: that we have reason to hope for even better times and a brighter national future.
