separate in the proposed zoning ordinance. On page 189 of the proposed zoning ordinance, the definition of “Place of Worship” reads: “A public place of worship. Includes cemeteries on the same lot as an accessory use. Does not include camps, retreats, schools or other use covered in Article 3 as determined by the administrator.”
Proposed ordinance improved. Several residents said they appreciated the effort put forth by the Planning Commission in the proposed document.
Sean Kilpatrick, who said he had nit-picked at an August 15 public hearing on the proposed zoning ordinance, told the board that he also had intended that evening to say “the ’73 (ordinance) is a basket case and it needs to be replaced.
“I could nit-pick more,” Kilpatrick said, before adding, “I want to pat you on the back and say, ‘Boy, we need (a new ordinance); when can we have it?”
Other residents echoed Kilpatrick’s sentiments. Said Dr. William Young: “A zoning ordinance must be developed for the good of all of us.” Dr. Young said the ordinance would have to balance the freedoms and rights of people whether they were at church, work or home.
