Expensive Proposition
One may think that buying a trophy case is not that expensive. The truth is, the estimates sometimes sent the SC A into despair. We did not panic, however, at the big-ticket price: $2,000.
Began Fund Raisers
Fund raisers were in order. Everything from a ham give-away to our beloved leader Mr. Dennis Wingfield taking pledges from students before running in the Fodderstack last spring followed. From Fodderstack-race pledges of 10 cents a mile, Mr. Wingfield raised nearly $100.
Additional help came in donations from the Sperryville Emporium and Country Manor of Sperryville. With spirits boosted, RCHS and SCA made more trophycase plans.
