We came in contact with Rappahannock County in 1969 and immediately fell in love with the picturesque little town of Washington, its mountains, woods and rivers, not to mention the fresh, unpolluted air and quiet surroundings.
Right away we bought property at Peyton Farm Estates and from 1969 until 1979 we were weekend citizens of Rappahannock County. Since it was getting harder for us to stay away from the countryside, we decided to make Peyton Farm Estates, in the Hampton District, our permanent residence. For the last four years we have spent three hours a day on the road, commuting the 150 miles to and from work just so we can still enjoy, a few hours every day, the countryside we love so much.
Now, as a citizen and taxpayer for 14 years in the Hampton District, we are angry and feel betrayed by the Board of Supervisors, people we elected to office, that they would allow without consideration of health, aes
