“One thing ought to be pointed out, and that is that this proposed ordinance for Washington doesn’t allow us to do anything but insure that state law on sewage disposal is enforced,” said Newbill Miller. “There is no criteria that we can impose on facilities that isn’t already granted by the state.” Kramer asked Fisher to talk further to Sanford, and to get a map that shows the faults.
In other business, Miller advised the Council that he had spoken to the Board of Supervisors about the town boundary survey, and that no decision was made. “One of the questions they had was did it change anybody’s^ voting rights, and it does not,” said Miller. The new survey is a part of the Council’s effort to obtain a new charter for Washington, and the deadline for submitting the necessary documents is December 14.
The Council approved a roughdraft version of an amendment to the present dog-control law. The amendment covers the hiring of a town dog warden and the warden’s responsibilities. The draft will be submitted to Baumgardner, and a public hearing will be held on the ordinance.
The Town Council’s next1 meeting is scheduled for December 12 at 8 p.m. in the courthouse. /
