Miller Reappointed
The Board of Supervisors in its January 7 meeting reappointed Planning Commissioner Newbill Miller to another term. Miller’s past term expired January 5.
Miller was not aware of the reappointment. Reached by phone, he said if the Board would like it, he would be happy to continue as Planning Commissioner.
• Scrabble Dumpster Site Deadline
The Scrabble dumpster must be removed by March 1. Residents of Stonewall-Hawthome and Piedmont Districts are requested to phone Supervisors Nelson Lane (987-8081) or Charles K. Estes (987-8951) with recommendations for new dumpster sites.
• BZA Elects Officers
The Board of Zoning Appeals elected officers for the coming year during a work session on Tuesday, January 8. Board members voted unanimously to re-elect Lee bird to the office of chairman, and Sharon Luke to the office of vice-chairman.
• Republicans Hedge Unity
State GOP Chairman Don Huffman announed January 3 that Virginia’s eight Republican candidates for the Commonwealth’s top three offices of Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General will meet together to take a pledge of Party unity at 1:30 p.m. Monday, January 14, 1985 in the Richard D. Obenshain Center (115 E. Grace St., Richmond). Huffman called the scheduled gathering, “the next step in assuring Party cohesiveness throughout the 1985 campaign cycle.”
