Miss Cheryl Ann Settle and William Marshall Vance exchanged wedding vows November 24, 1984, in Historic Mt. Salem Baptist Church at Rock Mills.
The bride was escorted by her father and was given in marriage by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. Richard Settle of Flint Hill. The groom’s parents are Dr. and Mrs. Vem R. Greenwood of Punta Gorda, Florida.
The Rev. George Joslin of Richmond performed the double ring ceremoney in sign language and verbally, at 3 p.m. before an altar decorated with mixed flowers and candlelabra.
Mrs. Charlotte Nichols of Flint Hill was pianist presenting traditional wedding music and accompanied Miss Joyce Walker of Arlington, who sang “For All We Know” and “The Lord’s Prayer.”
Mrs. Nan Brown from the Virginia School for the Deaf and Blind in Staunton interpreted the entire ceremony.
The bride wore a gown of white organza over taffeta. The gown was styled with a high neckline and a natural waistline. The bodice was accented with a wide flounce of nottingham lace and silk Venice lace. The full skirt was
