I’d like for all of us to take time to sort out the various aspects of the landfill controversy. All of us who have played a part in it are really working towards the same ideals.
Our supervisors, individually, are contributing a tremendous amount of their own time to study Rappahannock’s trash disposal problem. They are directing their efforts towards a regional solution—an out-of-county resource recovery facility that would accept our garbage.
The CCRC, as a group, has vehemently opj used a landfill on the proposed site. While stopping short of recommending any particular site for a landfill, the group has, on numerous occasions, made one very strong recommendation: Find a trash disposal facility outside the county.
