Also, “In every case that I’m aware of, the sale of motor vehicles or that kind of thing.. .anything that is not sold within the building such as merchandise has had to get a special use permit, even if it is in a commercial district,” said Konick.
Near the end of the discussion, Commissioner Newbill Miller said “We should get the supervisors to request that Bowers comply with the ordinance. I don’t see that the supervisors can grant him a special use permit: he’s not a watchman or a caretaker. ”
Commissioner Krebser added, “We must resolve if it is against the building code to have a dwelling in a building storing gunpowder or ammunition — if so, the whole question becomes moot.”
Then a motion passed to request that the supervisors take the necessary enforcement action to bring Mr. Bowers into compliance with the zoning ordinance.

Chairman Stokes reported that on February 18 the commission met with the citizens of Amissville to examine their proposal to expand the village boundaries of Amissville. Stokes said that the commissioners received input from the public but that a work session will be called before the commission makes a recommendation.
Stokes also noted the contents of a letter from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to Commonwealth’s attorney Peter Luke regarding flood insurance for the construction of the upcoming Sperryville sewage plant. The Agency wrote that the contractors have gotten flood insurance but that the county should still send the proposed changes in its zoning ordinance that will cover future flood insurance needs.
