Birds are fed at the Velasquez house in summer as well as winter although the birds need to be fed more during the winter. “Winter was later this year so there weren’t as many coming at first, but now the feeders stay busy,” Velasquez said. “You have to keep steadily feeding, though, to keep the birds coming.”
Velasquez also recommends putting the seed mixes in feeders or on the ground in areas where there are bushes and trees so the birds will feel safe. “They need cover that they can fly to just in case,” Velasquez said.
