To the editor:
The very fact that some hunters don’t wear orange makes it extremely important that one’s target is positively identified before the shot is fired. A law requiring all hunters to wear blaze orange would only encourage the trigger-happy to blast away at anything that is not orange.
There are other people in the woods besides hunters, and there are other animals in the woods besides deer and bear. A blaze orange law might save a few hunters, but it could well result in the shooting of just about everyone and everything else — hikers, surveyors, loggers, naturalists, children, dogs, horses, and cattle.
I am in favor of, and would strongly suggest, the wearing of some eye-catching color — be it blaze orange, the old-fashioned red
