The United States Senate today passed Senator Paul Trible’s amendment commending farmers and charitable organizations who aid the needy by gleaning America’s farmlands.

“Throughout the United States, and particularly in Virginia, there is an active gleaning movement. Farmers donate surplus crops to help those who are less fortunate and charitable groups distribute these crops to feed the hungry.

“The Congress expressed its strong support of those individuals and charitable organizations involved in these humanitarian efforts and encouraged state and local governments to adopt tax incentives
