of Camp Fantastic. “All of the kids have positive ;—very positive — attitudes about the future. This is really a happy place and a happy time. No one at Camp Fantastic ever stops smiling—and hoping.”
This outlook on life goes home with the campers, according to Jim, who corresponds with many of his young friends. “Their letters are always positive,” he emphasized.
“These kids deserve the best week that is possible for them, the best week we can give them,” said Jim, explaining why he wanted more people in the county to become involved with Camp Fantastic. “Their courage needs to be rewarded. ”
The idea for a Rappahannock County Night was stolen from the civic clubs and businesses of Warren County which give the Fantastic kids a parade through town and a fair and barbecue at the camp. “Camp Fantastic may actually be IN Warren County, but Rappahannock’s just over the mountain. I thought we should do something, too,” Jim said.
