“Unfortunately, however, only two of these amendments have been successful in the 10 appropriations bills passed by the House thus far this year.” The savings contained in the amendments which passed amount to just over $660 million, while those contained in the freeze amendments that were defeated would have reduced the deficit by an additional amount estimated at more than $4 billion, he added.
