For 40 years he was employed by the Penn Central Railroad as a railroad engineer. He served with the Army’s 770th Railway Operating Battalion in the Philippines and Korea. He had been a member of the American Legion Cheverly Post 108 for 33 years.
Mr. Farmer was also a member of Columbia Lodge No. 285 in Arlington and an associate member of Washington Lodge No. 78; During his retirement in Rappahannock he did volunteer work with the Rappahannock Health Department.
He is survived by his wife Shirley M. Farmer, his mbther Elizabeth Hall, both of Washington, Va., four children, Diane E. Kidwell, Flint Hill, Ronald E. Farmer, Manassas, Frank C. Farmer, Falls Church, and Paul C. Farmer, Fairfax, two sisters, Mary Wingrove and Bessi«Deese, White Plairis, Md., eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were conducted Aug. 12 at Arlington Funeral Home and interment was at Quantico National Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society.
Lee Fincham
Lee William Fincham, 70, of Sperryville, died August 11 at Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
A native of Rappahannock County, he was the son of the late Willie and Mazie Jenkins Fincham. He was a farmer and a member of Thornton Gap Regular Baptist Church.
