Charles Henry Estes

Charles Henry Estes, 80, died August 7 at his home at Sperryville. Mr. Estes was a native and lifetime resident of Rappahannock County. He was a retired farmer and a member of Sperryville United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Gore Estes, one son Charles K. Estes and three sisters, Annabelle Swindler, Emma Swindler and Margaret Devers, all of Sperryville; three grandchildren and one greatgrandson.

Graveside services were conducted August 9 at the Woodville Cemetery by Rev. Merlin Shorb and Rev. William Harrison.

Active pallbearers were Charles K. Estes II, James D. Swindler II, James W. Fletcher III, Howard Butler, Thomas R. Taylor, Wade Jenkins Jr., Kevin Johnson and Greg Wayland.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sperryville Fire Department or Sperryville Rescue Squad.

Charles E. Fletcher

Charles E. Fletcher, 57, of Washington, died August 5 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Washington, D.C.

Mr. Fletcher was born April 7, 1929, in Rappahannock County. He served in the U.S. Army for 20 years before retiring with the rank of sergeant first class. He was a 32nd degree Mason with the Tennessee Valley Consistory No. 160, Huntsville, Ala.

Surviving are his wife, Ethel Fletcher; one sister, Dolores Dearing of Capitol Heights, Md.; one brother, Rodney Dearing of Washington, D.C.; one aunt and two uncles.

Funeral services were conducted August 10 at the Promise Land Baptist Church by Rev. John Pendleton. Burial was in the Grigsby Family Cemetery with honor guard services following.
