Toni Layne Shaffer of Flint Hill became the bride of Ronald Clay Vickers of Woodville Saturday, July 12, at the Luray United Methodist Church.
The double ring ceremony was performed at 2 p.m. by the Rev. William Ricketts and the Rev. Steven Scoggin amid an altar setting of palms, Swedish steel candelabra with sprays of white snapdragons, peach enchantment lilies, godecia, gerbra daisies and baby’s breath.
Organist Edith Zimmerman played a selection of wedding music.
Pianist was Cathy Fox and flutist was Karen Tate.
Mr. and Mrs. Scott Brisendine and Mr. and Mrs. Joel Voorhees sang favorites of the bride and groom, including Charity, Somewhere, Surely, The Presence of the Lord Is in This Place, The Gift of Love and Thy Will Be Done.
The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Tony R. Shaffer Sr. of Luray.
The groom is the son of Mrs. Roy 0. Vickers of Bristol, Tenn., and the late Mr. Vickers.
Given in marriage by her parents, the bride wore a formal white gown of taffeta styled with juliette sleeves and a sweetheart neckline. The fitted bodice with a basque waist featured an inset of embroidered schiffli lace enhanced with seed pearls and sequins. The full chapel-length veil hung from a fitted cap covered with satin and seed pearls complemented with, an embroidered edge and a blusher. She carried a full cascade of peach pittica roses, enchantment lilies, godecia, stephanotis, needle-point ivy and baby’s breath accented with a single duchess gardenia.
Maid of honor was Libby Shaffer of Luray, sister of the bride. Junior maid of honor was Jeanne Shaffer of Luray, another sister. Bridesmaids were Connie Hurd of Staunton and Vickie Clark of Bristol, Tenn., sister of the groom.
