unit receives

state award

The Rappahannock Unit of the American Cancer Society has received the 1986 President’s Cup for raising $1,902. The statewide award for fund-raising excellence is made to local units that exceed their goal by 12 percent or more.

The award presentation was made in Norfolk at the 1987 Crusade Kickoff of the American Cancer Society’s Virginia Division. The

statewide voluntary health organization supports research, education, and services to cancer patients and

their families. Volunteers raised more than $5.3 million in 1986. The goal for 1987 is $5.8 million.
