Newlin promised that they would continue to enforce the truck laws, hoping at least to curb violations if the trucks could not be removed, from the roads.
The cure for the problem — the reopening of Rt. 17 — is still in the works. /A five-mile stretch, qf the nine-mile total is under construction, but final apprdval f6r Abiding of the remainder has not yet been granted by the state. Nor has a timetable for the improvements been released.
6) Sperryville’s long-awaited sewage treatment plant, and the system connecting it to the town’s residential and commercial users, neared completion as the summer began.
A question arose, however, about the disposal of sludge which must be pumped from the holding tanks at each building. A proposal to dispose of it at the county’s landfill was refused by the state, and the granting of an operating permit hinged on the acceptance by the state of a sludge disposal plan.
A tour by the Board of Supervisors in December produced unanimous approval of the project, and
