Tea and candlelight tour
at The Conyers House
The final Christmas tea and candlelight tour of the Conyers House will be held Sunday, Dec. 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. Cost of the tea and tour is $6.50 per person and reservations may be made by calling 987-8025. The public is invited.
The 18th century Conyers House, the first and oldest country inn in Rappahannock County, is located on Slate Mills Road at the southern tip of the county.
6Out of Africa’
Out of Africa will be playing at the Gay Street Theatre on Saturday, Jan. 3, and Sunday, Jan. 4, at 7:30 both evenings. Starring Meryl Streep and Robert Redford in two of the most gifted performances of their careers, Out of Africa is a beautifully composed love story. Based on Isak Dinesen’s novel of an early 19th century coffee farm, Out of Africa is a splendidly photographed memoir of Dinesen’s affair with a free-spirited pioneer, and provides a careful look at differing cultures. The movie is rated PG. Admission is $3 for adults and $2 for children.
Holiday closings at CCLC
As a reminder to parents, the Child Care and Learning Center would like to announce that the Center will close at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 24, and will be closed Thursday and Friday, Dec. 25 and 26. It will also be closed on Thursday, Jan. 1, New Year’s Day.
Enrichment classes
Enrichment classes will begin at the Child Care and Learning Center in January. They are as follows: Jan. 7, karate, 3:30-5 p.m., 12 sessions; Jan. 21, bodywork, 6 p.m., six sessions. Call the Center at 675-3237 with any questions regarding these programs.
Dance at Amissville
The band Crossroads will play for a dance sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Proper dress is required and persons attending must be 21 years of age. Cost is $25 a couple and includes party favors and first set-ups. For reservations or additional information call 937-4357.
