Lions Club auction
The Rappahannock Lions Club will sponsor a benefit auction on Saturday, April 25, starting at 6:30 p.m. at the Washington VFD building in Washington.

Dinner honors volunteers
Rappahannock’s first volunteer get-together and covered dish supper will be held on Tuesday, April 28, at 6:30 p.m. at RCES. Sponsored by Extension Homemakers Clubs, the Extension Service and Volunteer Services of Community Services Center, the dinner will recognize all volunteer organizations in the county.
The program’s theme will be The Constitution’s Bicentennial. The Hon. Raymond R. (Andy) Guest, will be the speaker. If any organizations have not been contacted please call Jeanie McNear (675-3329) or Sandra Richardson (675-3619) for more information.
Amissville 4-H Club to meet
The Amissville 4-H Club will meet April 23 at 7 p.m. at the United Methodist Church. 4-H is open to anyone between 9 and 19 years of age.
RCES jumps for heart
On Thursday and Friday, April 23 and 24, students in grades four through seven at Rappahannock County Elementary School will be participating in their annual Jump Rope for Heart event. They are trying to raise money for the Rappahannock County Chapter of the American Heart Association.
Members of the community who sponsor a jumper are reminded that donations must be mailed in the envelope provided by the student by April 27. Students are not to collect cash or checks themselves.
Rappin9 at Family Worship
A Christian rap music concert “Rappin’ for Jesus” will be held at Family Worship Center on Saturday, April 25, at 7 p.m. Stephen Wiley from Tulsa, Okla., will be the guest evangelist and singer. For directions or additional information call 987-8014. Admission is free, but a free will offering will be taken. The public is invited.
Democratic Caucus to meet
The Democratic Caucus will meet Monday, April 27, at 7:30 p.m. at the courthouse. The meeting is being held to elect three delegates and two alternates from Rappahannock County to the 26th Senatorial District Democratic Convention to be held at the Luray Elementary School in Luray on May 16 at 1 p.m. Interested persons who are registered to vote are invited. Japanese Bonsai program planned
The Rappahannock County Garden Club invites the general public to a program it is co-sponsoring on Japanese Bonsai. Jules Koestch, editor of the Potomac Bonsai Association, will talk on how to get started and pruning and also lead a general discussion. The program will be held at 1 p.m., Thursday, April 30, at St. John’s Parish Hall, 271 Winchester St., Warrenton. Refreshments will follow.
Dance at Amissville
The band Crossroads will play for a dance sponsored by the Amissville Volunteer Fire Department Saturday, April 25, from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m. Proper dress is required and persons attending must be 21 years of age. For reservations or additional information call 9374357.
